"I'm a Lurker"

I just had a random thought and wanted to rant about it.

So here it is... I'm sure all of you... my fellow quilters and crafters..... are on SOME type of yahoo group or forum of some sort.

Don't you love it when someone begins their reply with "I'm usually a lurker. . but. . . "

Why do they feel the need to begin their reply with this?

To me, it seems like you're saying "I usually don't say anything. . . so since I am replying to this particular message. . . you should pay attention. . .because what I am about to say is VERY important.."
LOL

Just MY THOUGHT OF THE DAY!!!!!

  1. I think I might preface a comment with those words not to plead my importance, but to let you know I didn't come out of the woodwork and posted a comment in total ignorance. It would meant to say that I follow your blog so I at least know a little bit about you/subject.

That said, however, I'm sure there are those who feel exactly like you describe!

  2. Hi Katie. My impression of this situation is.....the subject was so stimulating, that I had to come out of the closet.

  3. Becky makes a good point.

I don't leave a lot of comments on blogs that I read through Google Reader regularly mostly because of my time restrictions, but when I have time to read blogs at a leisurely pace, I leave a comment. Does that make sense?

I love your blog, by the way.

  5. And Becky and Nancy - I don't mean blogs. . I was speaking more about yahoo groups and forums. It takes alot more effort to post a comment on a blog, IMHO, than on a yahoo group. And I would expect that there are many more READERS (lurkers) on blogs than yahoo groups. At least I would THINK. . but I could definitely be wrong! ;c)
